A post-construction verification survey that confirms what was actually built matches the approved design drawings and permit specifications. As-built surveys close out construction permits, satisfy agency inspection requirements, and create the permanent record of infrastructure for future maintenance, operations, and modifications.
An as-built survey (also called a record survey or survey of completion) documents the actual constructed positions of structures, utilities, roads, and other improvements as they exist on the ground after construction. The survey team measures each element and compares it against the permitted design to identify any deviations that must be resolved before permit close-out or certificate of occupancy.
For underground utilities — storm drain, sanitary, water, electrical — as-built information must be captured before backfill, making survey crew coordination with the contractor essential. EA Mapping can be on-site at each phase to capture pipe inverts, cleanouts, valve boxes, and structure elevations in real time.
